MILTON — Santa Rosa County will have new library hours beginning Oct 4.
- Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday at Gulf Breeze, Milton, Navarre and Pace libraries.
- Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday at Jay and Genealogy libraries. They will be closed from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday for lunch.
Activities through October are listed below. A signed parental consent form must be turned in to the library for any child under the age of 18 to participate in a virtual club via Zoom.
Fall Into Fun: Pick-a-Treat – All libraries will participate in this event, which is Oct. 1-30. Kids are invited to wear a costume, drop by the library, and pick up candy and a fun craft kit. Pick-a-Treat will take place during regular business hours throughout the month of October.
Preschool Storytime and Toddler Time – The fall sessions of Preschool Storytime and Toddler Time are going virtual. New videos will be posted each Monday on the library system’s Storytime and Toddler Time pages from Oct. 4 through Nov. 29, and will be available for viewing through Dec. 30.
Friends of the Milton Library Book Sale – The FOML will host a book sale 1-6 p.m. Oct. 1 and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 2 at 5541 Alabama St., Milton. Shop for bargain books of all types and subjects, for all ages. Visit the Friends Facebook page at https://bit.ly/3usuwqg for more information.
STEAM Makerspace – Meetings are 2-4 p.m. Oct. 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29 at the Gulf Breeze Library, 1060 Shoreline Drive. Are you into drafting, robotics, Arduino, knitting, painting or any kind of hobby and would like a place to meet with others? The library meeting room will be available at this time for you to do so. Sign up is required; see staff at front desk.
Book Chat – This Pace Library ZOOM chat is at 4 p.m. Oct. 6. One of the next best things to reading a good book is chatting about it. Join the conversation via Zoom on the first Wednesday of every month at 4 p.m. Registration is required.
The Illustriates Graphic Novel Book Club – The next meeting via Zoom is 4 p.m. Oct. 6 at the Navarre Library, 8484 James M. Harvell Road. Teens and tweens can join fellow reading enthusiasts on the first Wednesday each month in person or via ZOOM to discuss the book of the month. The group reads a variety of genres, including novels and graphic novels. Space is limited; registration is required.
Page Turners – The fiction book club meets at noon Oct. 8 (and second Fridays of every other month) at the Gulf Breeze Library, 1060 Shoreline Drive, for a brown bag lunch and book discussion. Participants can meet in person or via ZOOM. Registration is required.
Friends of the Navarre Library Book Sale – The FONL will host a book sale 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 9 at 8484 James M. Harvell Road, Navarre. Shop for bargain books of all types and subjects, for all ages. Visit the Friends’ website at www.facebook.com/NFONL for more information.
The Other Book Club – The OBC will meet from 4-5 p.m. Oct. 11 via Zoom. It is a book club for adults who enjoy various genres including mystery, thriller, and historical. The OBC meets the second Monday of every other month via ZOOM. Registration is required.
The Inklings – The next meeting is 4 p.m. Oct. 12 at the Milton Library, 5541 Alabama St. and via Zoom. Sixth through 10th graders are invited to read either the novel or graphic novel version of the book of the month and meet to share their ideas about it. The Inklings meets the second Tuesday of the month at 4 p.m. Registration is required.
Library Advisory Board Meeting – The board will meet 11 a.m. Oct. 14 at Library Administration, 6275 Dogwood Drive, Milton. This meeting is open to the public.
Reading Fanatics Book Club – The next meeting is 1 p.m. Oct. 16 at the Navarre Library, 8484 James M. Harvell Road and on ZOOM. The meetings are held on the third Saturday of the month at 1 p.m. via ZOOM or in person. Come tell us what you’d like to read – fiction and non-fiction titles are welcome.
AniManga Club – The club will meet via Zoom 4:30 p.m. Oct. 21. Join via ZOOM on the third Thursday of each month to learn and share graphic art skills in a fun environment. The AniManga Club is dedicated to the enjoyment and promotion of animation, cartooning, and related arts. The club is open to youth ages 11 – 17 through the Gulf Breeze Library, and registration is required.
Saturday Matinee Book Club – The club's next meeting is 1:30 p.m. Oct. 23 at the Genealogy Library, 6275 Dogwood Drive, Milton. Interested in books that have been made into movies? Read a book, then gather on a Saturday to watch the movie and discuss both. Snacks will be provided; please bring your own drink in a bottle or cup that won't spill. This club is for adults, and registration is not required.
