SRSO: Knife wielding man caught off Hamilton Bridge Road, Milton

Santa Rosa Sheriff's Office (SRSO) reports around 12:15 pm yesterday, dispatch received a call where the victim stated Troy Norris  held a knife to the victim and was held against their will inside the home. Reports said the inital call sent deputies to Tom Thumb at the intersection of Highway 90 and East Spencerfield Road. The victim was crying, and vomiting into a trash can. The victim told deputies Thursday morning Norris barged through the door of the victim's residence, tackled and tried to choke the victim, and wielded a knife. The victim said Norris threatened her with a flare gun and told her he wanted to kill her. Reports said Norris told the victim to drive him to where his truck was hidden, somewhere off of Hamilton Bridge Road where he got out of the truck. The victim said Norris told her he would kill himself if she called authorities. The victim drove to Tom Thumb where SRSO was contacted.

There was also an active order of protection for the victim. Reports said deputies made contact with the victim where medical attention was provided by EMS. The victim was also taken to an area hospital. Due to the nature of the incident, a signed warrant was obtained to arrest Norris but Deputies were not certain as to his whereabouts.

Reports said after receiving tips and making telephone contact with Norris, it was determined he was hiding in a largely wooded area, north of Mill Pond Lane and south of Hamilton Bridge Rd. It was believed Norris was carrying a knife and a flare gun. A Reverse-911 call was sent to area citizens advising them to take precautions.

Reports said several units from the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office and State Corrections K-9 unit assisted in the search efforts. At approximately 7 p.m., the Norris was located south of Hamilton Bridge Rd near the 5900 block. He was taken into custody without further incident, almost 7 hours after the initial call.

Norris is being held at the Santa Rosa County Jail with no bond. Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit are also working this investigation. Additional charges may be forthcoming.
