St. John Divine MBC, in East Milton, installed their new pastor Rev. Aramis Betts last Sunday. Rev. Betts was born and raised in Pensacola to Kevin and Mary Turner. He is the brother of Alvon and Zack. In January 2004, he heard the sweet clarions call to the ministry at the tender age of 13. In 2007, Rev. Betts was the youngest minister licensed and ordained in Northwest Florida.
Rev. Betts is the former president of the First West Florida Baptist District Association, Young Peoples Department. He has been blessed with wonderful oration skills. Those skills have afforded him tons of opportunities to preach and speak in front of crowds of 1,000 to 18,000. He is a graduate of B.T. Washington High School of Pensacola, and is the former International Vice President of DECA. After graduating high school, he attended Miles College, in Fairfield, Al. for two years. He is 36 hours away from completing his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Liberty University. His Graduate study plans are to enroll in a Joint Degree program at Beeson Divinity School at Samford University. He will be pursuing his Master of Divinity as well as his Juris Doctorate. Rev. Betts has had the opportunity to serve under some wonderful giants in ministry including Dr. Nathaniel Smith, Dr. Tyler Hardeman, Rev. Larry McCree Jr., and Dr. Quinton Hammonds.
He is now the pastor of St. John Divine Missionary Baptist Church of Milton where he endeavors to always stay humble and to love unconditionally.
