
At approximately 1:30 a.m., Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a potential burglary incident. As it turned out, an adult female was at her home with an acquaintance. The suspect, Normond L. Hale, 41 of Navarre, arrived at the home and began to forcefully knock on the front door. The female answered the door and asked Normond to leave. Both the woman and her friend agreed to speak in another room. At that point, Normond fired a weapon which he brought to the residence.
Normond fired a self-inflicted gunshot to his head. Both the female and the other acquaintance began to look for a phone to dial 911 as both parties believed he was deceased.
Normond woke up and was able to locate the female. He fired three shots, striking the female. Normond pursued the acquaintance who was outside the residence. Normond fired two shots at the other male. One round hit a vehicle in the driveway; the other round struck a window of a home located across the street.
Normond, using a revolver and at this time was out of ammunition. At this point, deputies arrived on scene and located Normond lying on the front lawn.
Normond was secured and the weapon was recovered. The female victim and Normond were transported to area hospitals with gunshot wounds. Normond is currently in a hospital under the watch of multiple officers. He will be accompanied until he is released where he will be transported to the Santa Rosa County Jail. Investigators are currently obtaining a signed warrant for two counts of attempted murder and one count of shooting into an occupied dwelling.
