MILTON — Santa Rosa Medical Center is celebrating National Volunteer Week.
A Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon is set 11 a.m. Thursday, April 27 in the Education Building behind Santa Rosa Medical Center.
“We truly appreciate the contributions of our dedicated volunteers, who have chosen to spend their valuable time serving others,” said Doug Sills, CEO of Santa Rosa Medical Center. “We’d like to extend our appreciation to all the volunteers in our community — their selfless service makes Milton a better place to live.”
Established in 1974, National Volunteer Week has grown in scope each year, drawing the support and endorsement of U.S. presidents, governors, mayors and other elected officials.
This year’s theme, “Volunteers Make the World a Better Place,” offers an opportunity to celebrate ordinary people who accomplish extraordinary things through service.
“This week gives us a chance to honor volunteers and promote their important work in our community,” said Marjorie Harp, who leads the center’s volunteer program.
“We hope this week’s celebration inspires others to get involved and pursue issues and causes that they feel passionate about.”
