1. VIEW BUTTERFLIES. The Panhandle Butterfly House's Grand Seasonal Opening for its 20th anniversary is 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 6 at 8581 Navarre Parkway, Navarre. Visitors can observe native Florida butterflies, caterpillars and eggs, watch a butterfly emerge from its chrysalis and learn how to create a butterfly garden. 2. RUN A 5K. The 9th Annual Sunset Stampede is set 4-7 p.m. May 6 at Juana Pagodas, 1451 Navarre Beach Causeway in Navarre. The 5K's participants can run or walk, and enjoy free food, free beer and free Pagoda Rum Punch. The event is limited to 1,000 participants. 3. EXPLORE MARINE SCIENCE. The 5th Annual Autism OdysSea is set 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 6 at Navarre Beach Marine Science Station, 8638 Blue Heron Court, Navarre. Teachers, trained volunteers, community organizations and students from the Navarre Beach Marine Science Station will assist participants, who will rotate at their own pace to learning stations. Activities include sensory stations, touch tanks, shark myths, sea turtle crafts, live critters, beachcombing, character meet and greets and kayaking, among others, for ages 8 and up. The Navarre Rotary will provide lunch for all participants. Each family will receive a goody bag with a T-shirt and a Sea Turtle Autism car magnet. 4. ENJOY LOCAL MUSIC. Bands on the Blackwater returns 7 p.m. May 5 on South Willing Street. The outdoor concert series, held Friday nights in downtown Milton, is free to attend. You can pull up a boat or bring a lawn chair and relax while listening to music. This week’s featured band is the Modern Eldorados.
5. SHOP FOR A CAUSE. The Spring Fling Craft & Vendor Show is set 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 6 at Vision of Hope Center, 5555 Woodbine Road, Pace. This event is aimed to help raise money for Vision of Hope, a non-profit organization that supports young adults with disabilities. Craft and home-based business vendors, as well as local small businesses, may participate in this event.
