GULF BREEZE — Sacred Heart Health System has completed 75 percent of construction on two of its outpatient medical facilities on Sorrento Road near Perdido Bay and in the Tiger Point area east of Gulf Breeze. The projects will be completed in July.
Sacred Heart CEO Susan Davis said the new facilities are significant investments in these communities’ health care.
“These facilities underscore Sacred Heart’s commitment to increasing access to comprehensive, quality health care services,” Davis said. “The residents around Perdido Bay and Tiger Point will soon have convenient locations where they can access timely, personal health services that will help them to achieve the best health outcomes.”
Travel times and distance are often cited as barriers that prevent people from accessing necessary health care. That’s why Sacred Heart built its first outpatient facilities in Perdido Bay and Gulf Breeze more than 30 years ago.
In the new medical buildings, residents will have expanded clinical services at facilities that are closer to the areas where they live and work. These services include advanced diagnostic imaging, such as mammography, CT, X-ray, MRI and ultrasound; full-service laboratories; and adult rehabilitation services.
In addition, each site will have primary care physicians, walk-in care, and specialty services. In the Tiger Point facility, specialists in orthopedics, cardiology, endocrinology and OB/GYN will be available to see patients weekly. The Perdido Bay location will offer the services of specialists in orthopedics and OB/GYN.
“We look forward to consolidating multiple services in these new, convenient locations,” said Bob Murphy, president of Sacred Heart Medical Group.
Each facility will have 28,000 square feet of space and will cost close to $7 million. Sacred Heart, which currently employs more than 5,000 people, estimates that 50 jobs will be created due to the two projects.
Sacred Heart is a member of Ascension, the largest Catholic, non-profit health system in the U.S.
