MILTON — Friends and family filled the Central High School gymnasium stands to support their 2017 graduating seniors.

The Central High Class of 2017 had 45 graduating seniors and earned roughly $1.1 million in scholarships and financial aid to continue their education.

Here are more facts about the graduates:

  • The class motto is "Together, we have experienced life. Separately, we will pursue our dreams. Forever, our memories will remain," by an unknown author.
  • The class colors are navy and gray.
  • The class flowers are daffodils and forget-me-nots.
  • The class song is Kenny Chesney’s "Don’t Blink."

The co-valedictorians were Kaley Mann and Austin Pittman and salutatorian was Tyler Tate.

Tate was brief in his salutatory address, thanking his family, the school faculty, and fellow classmates in the armed forces. He finished with a quote from John F. Kennedy.

“Ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country," Tate said.

Mann expressed gratitude as well.

“Class of 2017, we did it. We finished high school. This is the day we have been waiting for our whole lives," Mann said.

Pittman concluded his address with a selfie at the podium with the Class of 2017 behind him.

“The trip our junior year to Fort Myers was probably one of the highlights of my high school career," he said. "One of my favorite memories was not on the field but in the hotel sports bar.”

Central High School Principal Sean Twitty assured the audience no alcohol was involved on said trip.
