Former city attorney receives Bar Association leadership position

PENSACOLA — The Escambia-Santa Rosa Bar Association recently held its annual installation banquet. Chief Judge Linda L. Nobles conducted the installation of the 2018-2019 officers—including former Milton City attorney Heather Lindsay—and executive council members. The Escambia-Santa Rosa Bar Association also recognized several of its members for their service to the profession and the community.

Newly installed officers are D. Steve Traylor, president; Warren  R. Todd, vice president; Heather F. Lindsay, secretary; Garrett P. LaBorde, treasurer; and Jodi D. Cooke, immediate past president.

A 10-year member of the Escambia-Santa Rosa Bar Association, Lindsay last year served as treasurer and has previously served on the Executive Council.

"(I) look forward to working with incoming treasurer, Garrett LaBorde," Lindsay said.

Her nomination originated with outgoing president Cooke, she said.

"It is a particular honor to be nominated, to be one of the officers of the Bar because it reflects that current leadership has confidence in the nominee to remain in service to the Bar up to the level of president."

Other Santa Rosa County attorneys have served as Bar officers as well, including Linday’s father Allen Lindsay Jr., she said.

New executive council members are Rebecca Gilliland, Joseph A. Passeretti and Jessica Schultheis. Returning executive council members are Douglas A. Bates, Christine A. Kelly Fausel, Joshua A. Jones, Frederick V. Longmire, Aaron T. McCurdy and Cecily M. Parker.

Joseph A. Zarzaur was presented the 2018 Michael A. Doubek Community Service Award. The award is presented to a member of the Escambia-Santa Rosa Bar Association in recognition of volunteer service to one or more community nonprofit organizations.

Frederick V. Longmire was recognized as the recipient of the 2018 Young Lawyers Division William S. Meador Award. The William S. Meador Award is given each year to a young lawyer who has proven himself or herself as a dedicated community participant.

Stephen H. Echsner was honored for his 11 year tenure representing The First Judicial Circuit on The Florida Bar Board of Governors. Eschsner is succeeded by Jeremy C. Branning, who participated in Echsner’s recognition.
