Blood donors can receive gift cards

GULF BREEZE — From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 17, those who donate blood at Starbucks, 346 Gulf Breeze Parkway, will receive a free $10 Starbucks gift card and a free wellness checkup including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, iron count and cholesterol screening.

Healthy people age 16 or older who weigh at least 110 pounds can donate blood. A photo ID is required.

Pet adoptions set June 17

MILTON — Tractor Supply Company, at 6531 Caroline St., in Milton, will host pet and livestock adoptions from 10 a.m. to noon June 17.

Families can visit with adoptable animals and interact with adoption volunteers to learn more about the joys and responsibilities associated with owning anything from cats and dogs to rabbits, goats, pigs, horses and more.

Celebrate Freedom race, fun run return to Jay

JAY — The 18th Annual Celebrate Freedom 5K and One Mile Fun Run is set July 4.

The event begins 8 a.m. at Jay City Park, 5259 Booker Lane. The advance entry fee is $20; race-day entry is $25. One Mile Fun Run entry is $10. T-shirts are guaranteed to the first 75 runners who register.

The race starts and finishes at Jay City Park. The mostly flat course offers scenic running through the neighboring countryside and loops Jay Elementary and Jay High School. The last half is on a paved road that splits through cotton and peanut fields.
