JAY — Monday night, somebody burglarized My Father’s Arrows, the Jay charity that supports children in foster care, according to founder Sarah Ellis. She broke the news in a Facebook Live video on the My Father’s Arrows Facebook page Tuesday morning.

Ellis is less concerned about the stolen items than she is about the threat to safety and peace of mind on the property.

“(The thief or thieves) stole some men's work boots that were new in the box, some speakers, things like that. They were man-type things. I'm not worried about the recovery of the items. I'll let Jesus deal with that. That's no worry to me. What I am concerned about is safety. No one should be on this property without us knowing because … we do have kids here.”

After contacting the Santa Rosa Sheriff's Office, Ellis took additional action by creating the video and planning security measures around the property including new locks and cameras.

As of 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Ellis’ video received 3,200 views, 101 reactions, 195 shares, and 61 comments.

This was not the first time My Father’s Arrows encountered thievery, according to Ellis.

“We do have people that will try to steal from us in our store sometimes (at 6606 Elva St., in Milton) and I normally just say Jesus will deal with that, but now I'm mad because now they've come on this property during the cover of the night. It’s utterly ridiculous and shameful and kind of scary.”

In a follow-up interview, Ellis said she’d like to find a volunteer to provide security for the property’s gate since multiple people know the access code.

The thief or thieves possibly knew the routine, according to Ellis.

“We’re here all the time,” she said. “Somebody is always here, so it’s alarming somebody snuck in during the night. It’s rare somebody is not here.”

Ellis did not file a report with the sheriff’s office, according to Santa Rosa Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Rich Aloy. She just wanted the Sheriff’s Office to be aware of the incident in case there were more burglaries in the area, she said.

Call the Sheriff’s Office at 983-1100 to report any related information.
