JUDGE VIOLATED THE CONSTITUTION
This is Kenneth. I would like to address the situation relative to the cross in Pensacola. I will now read the First Amendment to the Constitution. "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom, of speech or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble and to petition the government for redress or grievance."
I think this judge has made a law to remove the cross. Is that a violation of the Constitution? I think very clearly (it is). For the Constitution says that no law (shall) respect an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof is grossly being taken as separation of church and state. That is not what the Constitution says. The Constitution says nothing about separation of church and state. It addresses the fact that no law should be made relative to our ability to practice whatever religion we want wherever we want. That is what the people of this country need to understand; that judges have so perverted the Constitution that it really no longer applies.
REGARDING RECURRING SANTA ROSA ISSUES
This is Joe. I don't see how so many people are complaining about the roads, drainage system, Highway 90 through Milton, and yet the county commissioners raise the gas tax $0.06. Where has all the money gone for the last 20 years to address these problems?
The problem is they elected these county commissioners, so I don't see why they're complaining now. Maybe we should go back to hiring all commissioners for a district instead of countywide. Maybe we can get more done addressing these problems that way.
JUST PRINT CONVICTIONS
This is Bob in Milton. I would like to express my opinion (on) the showing of the arrest (report). It does say it is not a conviction but still if my boss saw me in the newspaper for a moving violation, I would probably lose my job. Please just publish the ones that were convicted, not the arrests. [Editor's Note: Thanks for your suggestion. Your point is well taken; however, arrest notices and mug shots are public records; a significant number of our readers wants to see the latest arrests; and these mug shots and arrest notices appear anyway on the Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office website. Removing this information from the newspaper would not prevent access and the information's exposure. Thanks for reading.]
TRUMP IS LIKE PEE-WEE HERMAN
This is Bob Bailey … I would like to talk about President Trump meeting Vladimir Putin. We can draw a comparison to this that is like Pee-Wee Herman meeting with Mike Tyson. We have an unprofessional, immature president going to meet a very professional, knowledgeable man. How embarrassing. It’s just like the German chancellor stated the last time Trump was in Europe that Trump acted like a drunk.
