NAVARRE — Kobe Johnson is going Division I.
And not just for football, but track and field as well.
The Navarre senior announced on Twitter that “I am officially ending my recruiting and I will be pursuing my academic and athletic career (Football and Track) at the University of South Alabama! Thank you to everyone who got me to this point. I love all of you! MOBCITY #GoJags”
Standing 5-foot-10, 160 pounds, the defensive back delivered 46 tackles, two tackles for a loss, an interception and a fumble recovery during his Daily News All-Area swan song for the 6-4 Raiders. The year before he had nine tackles and a fumble recovery for 11-2 region finals qualifying Navarre.
Johnson will join a Jaguars squad coming off a 2-10 campaign, although a 34-30 win over Arkansas State breeds hope for the future. The year before the Jaguars went 3-9, followed by a 4-8 season and in 2017.
On the track, Johnson will run the 400-meter and 400-meter relay for the Jaguars, who call Mobile, Alabama, home.
