MILTON — Aug. 18 and 19, West Florida Baptist Academy hosted its 9th Annual Conqueror Pre-Season Volleyball Slam.
Teams included, from Pensacola, the East Hill Eagles and Trinitas Knights, Victory Warriors of New Albany, Miss., Central Christian Saints of Robertsdale, Ala., and the Bayshore Eagles of Fairhope, Ala.
The championship match highlighted the Panhandle Christian Conference 2016 champion Bayshore Eagles versus the Warriors of New Albany. The match went five sets — with Victory defeating the Eagles for the win, and key defensive blocks by the tournament MVP Alex Lipsey, to seal the victory.
Bayshore advanced to the championship game by defeating the host, the West Florida Baptist Academy Lady Conquerors. The Warriors earned their spot with a defeat of Trinitas.
Trinitas placed third with its victory over West Florida and Central placed fifth with its win over East Hill.
