PACE — The Friends of the Pace Area Library received a grant of $5,000 from Charter Bank.

The grants are awarded based on the number of customer votes. The bank maintains a list of eligible nonprofit organizations in the region. The Friends group is one of three nonprofit organizations in the Florida region to receive these grants this year. The other two are Catholic Charities of Northwest Florida and American Red Cross of Northwest Florida.

The Friends volunteer group raises money to support summer reading programs for children and supplies not funded by the state or county. The Friends purchased one of the children’s computer stations at the Pace library. The Friends also bought many of the large-print books and books on CDs. Most of their money is raised from membership dues and the sale of used books.
