MILTON — The grill lit up and the smell of burgers and hot dogs filled the air as directors of the Arc of the Emerald Coast showed appreciation to their employees.

The Arc of the Emerald Coast has over 240 employees who provide support to men, women and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

These 240 caring hearts provide services and needed support to over 450 men, women, children and families in Okaloosa, Walton and Santa Rosa counties.

The services range from their Children’s Center & Early Intervention program to the Personal Supports, Employment Supports and Day Training programs.

These services are needed for the children, adults and their families to provide the most inclusive environment and to aid in supporting a full life for those with autism, spina bifida, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome and other intellectual and developmental disabilities.

To celebrate all that the employees do, they were welcomed with a food, gourmet pops and games at their new Aquatic and Education Center located on Holmes Boulevard.

The Aquatic and Education Center opened its doors in May with funding from the Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation and Impact 100 of Northwest Florida.

For more information about this program and many other services provided contact Arc offices in Fort Walton Beach at 863-1530 or Milton at 623-9320. Additional information can be found at www.arcemeraldcoast.org.
