GULF BREEZE — Following up on a reported stolen iPhone Sept. 12, Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies discovered suspect Frank Caserta had an active warrant for parole violation for murder in New York.
Upon receiving the call for the missing phone, the deputy assisted the victim by explaining the process of using the “Find my iPhone” application. It indicated the phone was in Navarre.
Deputies responded to an address off of Rexford Street in Navarre and made contact with Caserta at that address. Calling the missing phone’s number, deputies could hear it ring inside the residence. They arrested Caserta and charged him with the theft of the phone. He received a felony theft charge.
Authorities later discovered Caserta had an active warrant for parole violation for murder in New York.
Authorities are holding Caserta in the Santa Rosa County Jail for the warrant.
