Wanted: Input on State Road 87 improvements

The Florida Department of Transportation will hold a public hearing concerning access management changes on State Road 87 at South Lynn Road in Santa Rosa County.

The meeting is set Thursday, Nov. 2, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites, 8510 Keshav Taylor Drive, Milton. The hearing will begin as an open house at 5:30 p.m., with a formal presentation at 6 p.m., followed by a public comment period.

The intent of this project is to remove the current directional median opening on State Road 87 at South Lynn Road to provide full access, and remove the southbound acceleration lane to accommodate a northbound left turn lane into the properties on the west side of S.R. 87.

Interactive Bible classes scheduled

NAVARRE — A series of interactive classes on the Bible is set Nov. 10-12 at Navarre Church of Christ, 8690 James M. Harvell Road.

Classes — 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10 and Saturday, Nov. 11 — will be part of the church’s regular services at 9 a.m., 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12.

Topics include the origin of the Bible, what the Bible contains, why people need the Bible and how the Bible is important in the modern age.

Dr. Tom Hamilton, professor of Bible Studies at Florida College in Temple Terrace, Fla., will conduct the classes.

Vendors, artists and crafters sought for fairs

MILTON — St. Mary’s Episcopal Church seeks artists and crafters for its annual Winter Arts and Crafts Fair.

This event is set noon to 7 p.m. Dec. 1 and from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Dec. 2 at the historic church on 6849 Oak St., in Milton. The church seeks vendors to showcase their handiwork including custom jewelry, art, woodcrafts and candles.

Inside booth space is available for $45 for both days and includes one 6-foot table. Outside booths are $20 for one day and $35 for both. Set-up will be from 9-11:30 a.m. Dec. 1. Space is limited. Use of electricity costs $5.

Santa Rosa Art Association offers art grants

MILTON — The Santa Rosa Art Association Inc. is offering up to $200 art grants to individual classroom teachers in any discipline and up to $300 for teams or grade-level teachers in any discipline in Santa Rosa County for use in the 2017-2018 school term.

The money used must fund art education projects of some kind — whether that involves art creation, history or appreciation — and teachers must produce tangible proof of completion.

Teachers applying for a grant may submit as individuals or as a team, may be assigned to any grade level, and do not have to be art teachers.
