MILTON — Upcoming Santa Rosa County events and activities are as follows. 

FOO FOO FESTIVAL WRITER EVENT: Through Nov. 12. The West Florida Literary Federation presents “Writing on the Funny Side of Florida” Nov. 9 featuring three authors: Pensacola native Craig Pittman, humor columnist Erik Deckers of Orlando and writer and comedian Leanna Conley of Gulf Breeze. They will teach humor-writing workshops from 2-5 p.m. at the Pensacola Cultural Center. Admission is a nominal fee, which will benefit WLFL’s other missions. The venue will change to the Artel Gallery for free events from 6-9:30 p.m., and festivities will include a musical break with The String Farm Band, writer readings and book signings.

NAVARRE GARDEN CLUB’S ANNUAL SANTA’S WORKSHOP: Nov. 18 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Navarre Conference Center, 8700 Navarre Parkway, Navarre. A variety of artists and craftspeople will offer items. Ye Olde Bake Shop will feature various baked cakes, pies and goodies for your Thanksgiving table. Santa will wait to hear your child’s Christmas requests, and have his picture taken with your child. Indoor 9- by 5-foot booths will rent for $40, with a table costing $45; also, a limited number of outside 10- by 10-foot booth spaces are available for $40. CELEBRATE FAITH, HERITAGE: Church on the Circle will host an event celebrating Christian faith and the Creek heritage 4-6 p.m. Nov. 19 at 2017 Boll Weevil Circle, Enterprise, Alabama. Tribal people will demonstrate various arts and crafts such as primitive tool making, pottery and basket making. Artifacts will be on display. HOLIDAY CLOSURES: These Santa Rosa County offices will be closed Thursday through Friday, Nov. 23 and 24 for the Thanksgiving holiday:

  • Santa Rosa County Board of Commissioners, including the library system and animal shelter.
  • Santa Rosa County Clerk of the Court
  • Santa Rosa County Property Appraiser
  • Santa Rosa County Supervisor of Elections
  • Santa Rosa County Tax Collector
  • The Central Landfill will be open Nov. 24 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Santa Rosa County 9-1-1 dispatch, Lifeguard Ambulance Service and fire departments are open daily.
