MILTON — The Milton Rotary Club recently welcomed Kelsey Gallo, with the Children’s Home Society, to talk about the group's programs and the families it helps.

The Children’s Home Society was started because of a nationwide crisis with orphans in the early 1900s. The first office in Florida was opened in Jacksonville in 1902 by the Rev. D.W. Comstock. The CHS specializes in identifying community needs and then providing solutions. It currently assists over 5,000 families a year in Santa Rosa, Escambia, Okaloosa and Walton counties; these families are below the poverty line.

CHS focuses on mental health, youths and young adults and prevention of child abuse. It recently started a "community school’ program in a local school.

In other activities, the Milton Rotary club inducted Tiffany Sullivan as a new member. Tiffany has previous Rotary experience and is a local representative for Legal Shield.
