MILTON — Locklin Technical College is currently under its first week of school and students are busy in their classes. Principal Maria LaDoucuer provided an in-depth look at the college with a tour of the campus.
“We have some of the best students and the best teachers,” LaDoucuer said. “We have a high enrollment this year and we have only been in session for a week.”
As part of the tour, LaDouceur provided some interesting information. So here are some facts that you may not know about Locklin Technical College.
- Locklin Technical College shares its campus with Santa Rosa Adult High, but they are two totally separate schools with two totally separate administrations, staffs and faculties.
- The automotive program is certified through the Automotive Service Excellence program which will guarantee students opportunity for employment upon completion of the program at the college.
- The automotive and welding programs have buildings dedicated specifically for Santa Rosa high school students interested in the programs to come and try these areas before enrolling full-time.
- The globe painted in the media center of the college was painted by students from the county jail.
Principal Maria LaDouceur was once the culinary arts teacher of Locklin Tech.
- Locklin Tech culinary arts program students have their own food truck right on campus two days a week.
- The school’s full name is Radford M. Locklin Technical College. It is dedicated to Radford Locklin, a superintendent of Santa Rosa.
- Locklin Tech is the only technical college in Santa Rosa County.
