MILTON — Order of the Eastern Star’s Milton Chapter 189, with Santa Rosa Masonic Lodge 16 members’ assistance, helped make Christmas a little brighter for families of six W.H. Rhodes Elementary School students.

The group provided gifts for the children in each family, based on the kids’ wish lists, and provided gift cards so the families could purchase food for the holidays.

The Eastern Star chapter adopted W.H. Rhodes as their community service recipient for 2017-18. Donations of shoes and other items had already been made when the school requested assistance in providing Christmas food and gifts for families of several of their students.

Chapter members swung into action, collecting funds and contacting the lodge about partnering with them for the project. The lodge and their motorcycle group, Low Twelve, were eager to participate. The Low Twelve group provided two bicycles while the lodge contributed funds for food. The Eastern Star chapter purchased and wrapped Christmas gifts, ready for their delivery to the school.

Worthy Matron and Worthy Patron of Milton Chapter 189, Charlene and Billy Williams, said the chapter is pleased to be able to serve the Milton community and appreciates the support from Santa Rosa Lodge 16 members.
