GULF BREEZE — Sacred Heart Medical Group  has opened a new OB/GYN practice.

The newest Sacred Heart Women’s Center — located in Tiger Point at 1399 Country Club Road — offers prenatal and postpartum care, obstetrical ultrasound, high-risk pregnancy management, screenings for gynecologic cancers, minimally invasive procedures and complex pelvic reconstruction.

The Sacred Heart Women’s Center at Tiger Point features five board-certified OB/GYN physicians:

Dr. Julie DeCesare received her medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia, and she completed her OB/GYN residency training at Sacred Heart Health System in Pensacola, where she served as administrative chief resident, followed by assistant director and, now, director of the OB/GYN residency program. DeCesare is a two-time winner of the National Faculty Award for Teaching Excellence from the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics and the Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Joseph Peterson received his medical degree from Loma Linda University School of Medicine and completed his OB/GYN residency training at Sacred Heart Health System in Pensacola. He currently serves as the assistant director, as well as the director of robotics, for the OB/GYN residency program.

Dr. Sharon Seidel earned her medical degree from Louisiana State University and completed her OB/GYN residency training at Sacred Heart Health System in Pensacola. She currently serves as the director of ambulatory medicine for the OB/GYN residency program. In 2016, Seidel was selected as a scholar and leader for the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics, or APGO.

Dr. Lakeema Bruce earned her medical degree from Florida State University College of Medicine and completed her OB/GYN residency training at Sacred Heart Health System in Pensacola. She currently serves as clinical assistant professor with the OB/GYN residency program at Sacred Heart and is a member of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

Dr. Ann Ross graduated with her bachelor’s degree from Amherst College in Massachusetts and her medical degree from Columbia University in New York City. She completed her internship and residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, where she served as chief resident. Before joining Sacred Heart and the University of Florida, Ross served as an attending physician at Yale New Haven Hospital and as an associate clinical professor at the Yale School of Medicine’s department of obstetrics and gynecology. She is a previous Yale Health Physician of the Year.

These OB/GYNs serve on the faculty of the University of Florida College of Medicine and are often accompanied by OB/GYN resident physicians. Residents have completed medical school, are licensed to practice medicine and are training to become specialists in obstetrics and gynecology.

Sacred Heart is part of Ascension, the largest non-profit health system in the U.S. and the world’s largest Catholic health system.
