NAVARRE — The first meeting of the Navarre Garden Club for the new year will feature a hands-on "Fun With Flowers" program, led by Joanne Connor-Strieb.  Each attendee will create an arrangement to take home.

This year the club will be meeting at the Elks Lodge off Highway 98 behind the Shrimp Basket. Meetings will begin with a social period from 8:45 to 9:15 a.m. The official meeting is called to order at 9:15 a.m. The speaker is first on the agenda, finishing up about 10:10 a.m., followed by a short break. Members of the general public who wish to listen to the speaker, but not attend the meeting, are welcome to do so.

The Navarre Garden Club is a hardworking club that has been functioning in the community for the past 43 years.  The club has four main goals:

  • To educate members and the general public in Fla Friendly horticulture, floral design, and environmental concerns
  • To beautify the community
  • To protect the environment and its wildlife
  • To promote these values for the future

Evidence of the work the club has done to further these goals is visible throughout the community.

The club is currently seeking new members who agree with the club goals and are willing to work towards them (with plenty of fun in the process). For information call Membership Chair, Dana Wilson at 217-1414 or visit www.navarregardenclub.org.
