MILTON — Upcoming Santa Rosa County events and activities are as follows. 

UPCOMING

SANTA ROSA COUNTY 4-H QUILTING WORKSHOPS: Santa Rosa County 4-H will offer a "Past, Present & Future 4-H Quilting Class" workshop series for current, former or prospective 4-Hers as well as adults. The series, in partnership with the Home & Community Educator volunteers, will teach the basics of quilting and prepare students for quilting projects. The cost is $10 per class ($40 total). Here is the schedule: Feb. 10 (9 a.m. to 12 p.m.) — cutting the quilt; March 10 (9 a.m. to 12 p.m.) — sewing it up; and April 14 (9 a.m. to 12 p.m.) — putting it all together. SANTA ROSA DEMOCRATIC PARTY: The Santa Rosa Democratic Party will meet at 6 p.m. Jan. 18 at 4966 Henry Street. This month the guest speaker will be Tamika Lyles running for U.S. Senate.

NAVARRE GARDEN CLUB CELEBRATES ARBOR DAY: The Navarre Garden Club will celebrate Arbor Day 10 a.m. Jan.19 by planting a tree at the Navarre Gardens Assisted Living Facility located at 7254 Navarre Parkway. This year Santa Rosa County Master Gardeners and Santa Rosa County Forestry Department will provide native trees in one-gallon pots for distribution as well as information about services they offer in the county. ARBOR DAY CELEBRATION: The Milton Garden Club Arbor Day Celebration will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20 at the Milton Event Center, formerly the Milton Garden Club, 5256 Alabama St. The forestry service will give out free trees and there should be a visit from Smokey Bear around 11 a.m. Master Gardeners will be on hand to provide educational material and answer questions. YOUTH BASEBALL, T-BALL, SOFTBALL REGISTRATIONS: Gospel Projects Youth Athletic Club will open baseball, T-ball and girls softball registrations. Parents can register their children for these sports from Tuesday, Jan. 16 through Saturday, Feb. 17. Gospel Projects provides programs for players ages 3 ½ to 16 for girls and ages 3 ½ to 14 for boys. FLORIDA PANHANDLE PROGRESSIVES ‘CANDIDATE MEET AND GREET’: Jan. 17, 5 p.m. at the Tiger Point Park Community Center, 1370 Tiger Park Lane, Gulf Breeze. The speakers include a U.S. Senate candidate, county commission candidate in Santa Rosa and State House District 1 and District 2 candidates, as well as a Destin City Council candidate.

SANTA ROSA COUNTY WRITER’S GUILD: 3:45-5:45 p.m. Tuesdays at the Guy Thompson Community Center, 5629 Byrom St. Milton Poet Laureate Marc Livanos’ poetry night includes open-mic, free verse workshops, poetry contests with prizes, author events and refreshments.

MILTON GARDEN CLUB MONTHLY MEETING AND PROGRAM: 9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. the second Tuesday of each month, September through May at the Milton Event Center, formerly Milton Garden Club 5256 Alabama Street.

Feb. 13 is "All About Soil" presented by Jim Roberts, Public Information Officer of Escambia county.

March 13 is "Life Cycle of the Dragonfly" presentation by Pam Murfey, SRC Master Gardener.

April 10th is "All about Herbs" presented by Ginny Hinton, Santa Rosa County Family and Consumer Services Agent.

The Spring Luncheon will be in May, date TBA.
