Catherine Campbell Simmons, 92, of Milton, Florida, passed away Saturday, September 22, 2018.
Catherine was born January 28, 1926, in Pensacola, Florida. She and her nine siblings lived their younger years in Pensacola, but when the girls started turning in to beautiful young teenagers, their father decided it was time to move the family to Chumuckla on his family’s farm/homestead.
Catherine married James Simmons on October 9, 1944, and they raised their two daughters, Patsy and Joanie, in Milton. Catherine dedicated her life to caring for her family. She was a selfless, loving wife, mother and grandmother, always putting her family and children first.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Sally Slade Campbell; her husband, James Simmons; son-in-law, Christian Loyer Sr.; and a grandson, Christian Loyer Jr.
Catherine is survived by two daughters, Patsy Loyer of Milton, and Joanie (Joseph) Donlan of Pace; three grandchildren, Christiane Loyer (Thomas) Gonzalez of Ringold, Georgia, Mike Donlan of Milton, and Nathan (Jackie) Donlan of Pace; five great-grandchildren, Courteney Loyer Lee, Christian Loyer III, Mikayla Donlan, Cameron Loyer and Genevieve Gonzalez; and three sisters, Jewel Driscoll, Lois Simmons and Betty Jane Larson.
Visitation will be held 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 26, 2018, at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:30 p.m., Thursday, September 27, 2018, at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel. Burial will follow services in Milton Cemetery.
