David Farrow for Milton City Council

MILTON — David Farrow is running for Milton City Council Ward II, Seat 1.

Farrow is a graduate of Milton High School. Drafted into the Army in 1969, he reached the rank of Sergeant E5 within one year. He owned his own appliance store and now owns an appliance repair business. He has been married to his wife Marilynn for 31 years. They returned to live in Milton two years ago.

Farrow said he decided to run for office to use his life and business experience to bring the council together for the people.

“I want to bring the council together as a group,” he said, “not this side versus that side.”

The people need to know what city goals for the city are, Farrow said, and they should be more involved in the process of important city decisions.

“To bring in businesses you have to know how to get people to understand what the goal is,” Farrow said. “I think council has some good ideas but needs to learn how to better communicate with citizens.”

Communication is something Farrow said he believes he can do well. One of the goals, according to Farrow, needs to be the continued beautification of Milton to increase curb appeal of business properties.

“I want to see the downtown area become a place where people drive through and are taken aback by its beauty,” he said.

Other issues Farrow plans to address include improving infrastructure and storm water drainage, improving city employee pay and finding a way to decrease the bad debt write-offs.

“If I get elected, I am going to look into why the city is writing off such a high amount every month," Farrow said, "approximately $10,000 per month. I want to learn the process of how bills are getting written off.”

Another one of Farrow’s goals is to see the school ratings improved. Farrow has served on school advisory councils and says he could be a valuable asset with the city to help reach these goals. He would also like to improve safety within the city.

Farrow said whether or not he gets elected he wants to hold monthly meetings with citizens that are afraid to speak in public about issues they would like to have discussed at council meetings. He said he wants to be a steward for the people and their tax dollars.

“Let my experience work for you.”
