MILTON — Sharon Holley is the incumbent running for City Counicl Ward IV.
Holley is a long-time resident of Milton. Holley served Milton and the local community for many years as city employee until her retirement in 2014. In 2016, she was appointed to fill the vacancy of City Councilman Lloyd Hinote after his passing.
“I am proud to call Milton home,” Holley said. “I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else.”
Holley is married to her husband Donald, a military veteran. Together they have two sons, both of whom served in the military, a daughter-in-law and two grandchildren. Her grandson is a Sea Cadet in the Navy and plans to attend a military academy.
As a former small-business owner, Holley says small businesses are what form the basic foundation and backbone of the economy.
“Small business is a vital part of economic growth and prosperity,” Holley explained. “We need more in our community. I am eager to work with the city in securing an economic consulting firm to help identify the needs of our citizenry and ultimately bring these businesses to our city.”
As the city’s storm water chairperson, Holley said she is ready to identify and prioritize the city’s storm water concerns.
“The city currently receives approximately $230,000 annually to address the storm water issues,” she said. “This is a crucial focus of concern, as well as our Wastewater Treatment plant which has a new price tag of $30 million. With a current capacity of only 80 percent, it is imperative to move forward on this. These two crucial issues are vital to the growth of our city.”
Holley was recently appointed to the Housing Subcommittee Working Group. She supports making low- to moderate-income families a priority she said.
Holley said she has a strong belief in truth and transparency in government and vows to continue making the best interests of all local residents and business owners her top priority.
Holley said she will continue to draw upon her years of city-service knowledge and experience while listening to constituents. She said she sill work closely with other elected officials, and doing everything she can to make Milton the best place to live, work and call home.
“I promise to do everything in my power to promote a healthy, positive, family- and business-friendly community while moving the city in the right direction,” Holley said. “I know that every vote counts. I sincerely hope that you will give me the honor to continue representing you on the Milton City Council. Please give me your vote on Nov. 6, 2018. Thank you!”
