Part of an Oct. 11 Department Facebook post says, "We understand that people from outside the area are eager to assist. At this time, the most helpful form of assistance is monetary donations to the Red Cross or the Salvation Army. At this time we are unable to accept donated items. We are working on putting a volunteer program in place. Please stay tuned to this page for more information about that as it becomes available."
