Dear editor,
In his Sept. 25 letter…Steven King writes that George Soros studied under Karl Roper at the London School of Economics. (Third paragraph, "The leftist Democrat Party’s master," Letters, Press Gazette website.)
Karl Roper. Who’s Karl Roper? Well, I don’t know. However, I do know who Karl Popper is. He was George Soros’ mentor at the London School of Economics.
How does one get from Popper to Roper? Probably by copying information from an unreliable source and, then, failing to verify its accuracy.
There’s a Latin phrase – Falsus in uno, falsus in omnibus – which means "false in one thing, false in everything." In common law, it is the legal principle that a witness who testifies falsely about one matter is not credible to testify about any matter. (Wikipedia)
