Dear editor,
Milton’s…Steven King writes in his Sept. 26 letter, “Planned Parenthood supports taxpayer paid abortions-on-demand.”
Planned Parenthood does not provide taxpayer funded abortions – on demand or otherwise.
The Hyde Amendment prohibits the use of federal funds to pay for abortions except to save the life of the woman, or if the pregnancy arises from incest or rape. The original Hyde Amendment was passed on Sept. 30, 1976, by the House of Representatives and was made permanent on Jan. 24, 2017, by H.R.7 No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion and Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act of 2017.
If Planned Parenthood were to violate the Hyde Amendment by providing an illegal abortion, you can be sure the government would shut them down so fast it’d make your head swim.
