MILTON — The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office has provided an update to its ongoing homicide investigation of 21-year-old Milton resident Tyler Howell.
At 11:30 p.m. Oct. 21 deputies with the SRSO received a call in reference to a medical emergency on John Hamm Road near Highway 87in Milton, according to a press release from SRSO Public Information Officer Sergeant Rich Aloy. The initial cause of death appears to be a gunshot wound, according to the press release.
Aloy said the SRSO has been working 24 hours a day since the shooting and through video surveillance, the SRSO has discovered a person of interest in the investigation.
"We believe there are a total of three individuals involved in this shooting," Aloy said in a statement. "Our investigation has led us to believe this homicide is drug related. We also believe the victim knew the suspects."
The Sheriff's Office is currently looking for a blue 2015 Chevy Cruz with a Florida tag 059-RUB and a light grey or silver, newer-model car which could possibly be a Kia.
Anyone with information on the location of this vehicle should contact law enforcement immediately at 983-1190. To report anonymously, contact the Santa Rosa County Crime Stoppers Program at 437-STOP. There is a reward of up to $3,000 for information leading to an arrest.
