MILTON — Milton High School inducted four former athletes into their Hall Of Fame at the annual Pace Milton game. Although the Panthers lost 21-14, there was still cause for celebration.
The following were inducted into the Hall of Fame during the game.
Brad Filbert class of 2002
Filbert lettered in football, basketball and baseball and was a standout in each. In football Filbert was the defensive captain his senior year and lead the Panthers to district and regional championships. He was selected second team all area and honorable mention for the all-state team.
In basketball, Filbert helped propel the Panthers to sweet 16 appearance in the state playoffs and he was named co-MVP at the prep basketball shootout tournament.
Filbert also excelled in baseball. He was named first team all area and third team all state his senior year. He lead Milton to the playoffs as a pitcher and shortstop.
Filbert graduated from the University of West Florida and has been teaching and coaching in Santa Rosa County for 11 years.
Garson Cooley class of 1965
Colley was a standout basketball player at Milton. He lead the team in field goal percentages and was named team MVP in 1965. Cooley was named to the all district team in his senior year and signed a basketball scholarship with PJC where he played for two years.Cooley went on to graduate from the University of West Florida and started coaching at Milton. Cooley was part of the coaching staff for two consecutive football championships with Milton. He also coached on two final four basketball teams at MHS. Cooley coached at Milton from 1969 to 1988, and then became director of support services from 1988 to 1999.
Daman Nickson class of 2004
Nickson participated in three sports at Milton, football, track and weight lifting. He excelled in football being named to the all district; regional and state teams his senior year. Nickson was also the district 1 MVP, a Pensacola News Journal super senior and was player of the week five times during his last year at MHS.
Nickson signed a full scholarship to Middle Tennessee University where he received his degree and was named Sunbelt player of the year in 2006. Nickson is a pharmaceutical Sales Representative for Pfizer.
Katie Worley class of 2012
Worley was a standout volleyball and softball player at Milton. She was the PNJ Pitcher of the year in 2012, a three time MVP, three time all district and all area and named all state in 2012. She was also named the Female Athlete of the Year in 2012.
Worley was the first MHS softball player to sign for a full scholarship at a division one university, Georgia State, where she had a distinguished career.
