MILTON — Weber's Skate World hosted the Emerald Coast Inline Speed Skate Challenge for the sixth year in a row. The top inline speed skaters in the United States attended.

According to David Weber, owner of the skating venue, over 300 skaters entered the competition.

"This is the biggest event in the United States," Webber said in a Facebook live post.

Milton City Councilman Jeff Snow said the event was something the citizens of Milton had never seen before and the competitors were, "some of the fastest speed skaters ever."

"It's a great event," Snow said.

The event took place Saturday and Sunday at Skate World with indoor competitions and concluded Monday afternoon outside at Milton High School's Track field.

In speed skating, competitors race each other travelling for a certain distance. Types of speed skating are long-track speed skating, short-track speed skating and marathon speed skating.
