PENSACOLA — Under a tent on Palafox Street, Milton’s Jean Schuler, a watercolor artist, was Pensacola Gallery Night’s featured artist.

Schuler draws on her New Orleans roots for her art featuring beignets, Blue Plate mayo and other Creole and Gulf Coast icons.

Schuler is the Vice President of the Santa Rosa Art Association and a member of Artel Gallery.

"I feel blessed that I was given the opportunity to display my art in such a festive environment," Schuler said.

The theme of this Gallery Night was the Chinese New Year, the same day as Gallery Night.

"The streets were lit up with Chinese lanterns and dancing dragons," Schuler said. "Pensacola has truly embraced the local art community."

"I've followed Jean Shuler's art for a few years. I'm very happy that she was accepted as the featured artist for Gallery Night Pensacola," former president of Santa Rosa County’s Local Arts Agency Margie Baldwin said. "Not many artists can pull off the illusion of clear glass on canvas."

Schuler's day-job is graphic arts at the Santa Rosa Press Gazette
