TALLAHASSEE — Jason Traffanstead, 41 of Gulf Breeze, received a 75-year sentence from Circuit Judge John Simon for his 2014 crimes, according to State Attorney Bill Eddins.
Traffenstead was sentenced, after a Jan. 22 Santa Rosa County jury conviction, to 30 consecutive years on two counts of Engaging in an Act Which Constitutes Sexual Battery Upon or With a Child 12 Years of age or Older But Younger Than 18 Years of Age by Person in Familial or Custodial Authority, and to 15 years consecutive on Count 3 of Lewd or Lascivious Molestation, for a total of 75 years in state prison.
He must serve at least 85% of his 75 year sentence before he is eligible for release.
Traffanstead committed these crimes upon the victim between May 9, 2014 and March 31, 2016 at their home in Gulf Breeze. In March 2016, the victim disclosed the abuse while living in a foster home, which resulted in the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office investigation.
Santa Rosa Sheriff's Office Sergeant Sgt. Melissa Spratt conducted the investigation. Assistant State Attorney Stephanie G. Pace prosecuted the case. Contact Pace at 983-4453 for further information.
