UPCOMING

TAX AIDE: Volunteers from AARP Tax-Aide will be assisting with taxes at three Santa Rosa County libraries beginning Feb. 1. The program is the nation's largest free, volunteer-run tax preparation and assistance service, providing service to millions of low- and middle-income taxpayers, with special attention to those ages 60 and older. Patrons are served on a first come–first served basis. Preregistration is not accepted and space is limited, so arrive early.

  • Gulf Breeze Library (through April 15), Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays: 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
  • Milton Library (through April 11), Tuesdays and Wednesdays: 1 – 5 p.m., and Thursdays: 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
  • Navarre Library (through April 13), Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays: 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

UPCOMING

SPRING BOOK SALE: The Friends of the Gulf Breeze Library Spring Book Sale continues 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 9 at the library. A variety of books will be available. Support your local Friends group.

FOR THE WIN GAMES DAY: 9 a.m. March 9, Milton Library. Enjoy playing games? Bring games from home or play those provided. There will also be an ongoing Dungeons & Dragons campaign. This event is open to all ages, and game groups are welcome.

ROBOT UPRISING: 10 a.m. March 9, Milton library. Kids and teens ages 7 and older may attend a technology open house. Learn basic coding with robots, explore Arduino, or enjoy a Virtual Reality experience. Participants must be age 14 or older and have a parent sign a permission form prior to using the VR equipment. Forms are available at the Milton service desk. All supplies and equipment will be provided.

FRIENDS OF THE NAVARRE LIBRARY BOARD MEETING: 10 a.m. March 11, at the library. Board meetings are the second Monday of each month. Visit www.facebook.com/NFONL for details.

CROCHET CLASS: 3:30 p.m. March 11 at the Jay Library. Learn the basics of how to crochet! Visit the library to sign up and get a supply list. Supplies should cost less than $5.

COFFEE TALK BOOK CLUB: noon March 12, Gulf Breeze Library. The non-fiction book club meets second Tuesdays for a brown bag lunch and book discussion. This month’s selection is “Educated” by Tara Westover. Registration is required.

THE INKLINGS BOOK CLUB: 5 p.m. March 12, Milton library. Sixth through 10th graders are invited to share ideas about the book of the month. The Inklings Book Club meets second Tuesdays at 5 p.m. in Milton. This month’s selection is “Rebel of the Sands” by Alwyn Hamilton. Registration is required.

FAMILY STORY HOUR: "Book a Trip" with Family Story Hour! There will be stories, activities, and more related to each destination. This month is about Asia. Come each month to receive a stamp in your Family Story Hour passport.

Family Story Hour will be presented:

•5:30 p.m. March 12 at the Jay Library.

•4 p.m. March 19 at the Pace Library.

•4 p.m. March 22 at the Gulf Breeze Library.

FRIENDS OF THE PACE LIBRARY BOARD MEETING: 5:30 p.m. March 12, at the library. Meetings are 5:30 p.m. second Tuesdays beginning with January. The annual meeting is in March. Visit  www.friendsofpacelibrary.org for details.

THIRD FRIDAYS WITH UF/IFAS EXTENSION: 1 p.m. March 15, Gulf Breeze Library. The University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Services will present “Spring Lawn Care” information.

RED SHOE BOOK CLUB: The club continues reading about First Ladies 10 a.m. March 18 at the Navarre Library (Rosalyn Carter this time). Each person reads his or her own selected book or finds interesting facts to share. Bring a friend. Contact Kathy Krafka, kkrafka@hotmail.com, for more information. FAMILY MOVIE MONDAYS: 3:30 p.m. March 18, Navarre Library. Movies are third Mondays at 3:30 p.m., with a break in June. This month, watch a yeti named Migo try to convince his tribe that humans really do exist (rated PG). Refreshments provided.

NATIONAL NUTRITION MONTH: Santa Rosa County Extension Office presents "Fun with Fruits & Vegetables at all libraries. The family program includes a nutrition lesson, games, and a food sample. Hours are:

•2-2:45 p.m. March 19, Jay and Gulf Breeze libraries.

•2-2:45 p.m. March 20, Pace Library.

ANIMANGA CLUB: 4 p.m. March 19, Gulf Breeze Library. Third Thursdays. Learn and share graphic art skills in a fun environment. The AniManga Club is dedicated to the enjoyment and promotion of animation, cartooning, and related arts. The club is open to youths ages 11-17.

SPRING BREAK MOVIES: at the Milton Library. 5 – 7 p.m. Mar. 19, Ralph Breaks the Internet (rated PG). 5-7 p.m. Mar. 20, The House with a Clock in its Walls (rated PG). 2-5 p.m. Mar. 22, 2 – 5 p.m.: Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (rated PG-13). Refreshments provided.

PRESCHOOL STORYTIME: Programs are presented for preschool children ages 3 through 5 and include stories, finger plays and action rhymes. Caregivers must remain in the library during storytime; however, they cannot accompany children into the programs. Programs start promptly at the assigned times; latecomers are not admitted.

TODDLER TIME: program for children ages 18 to 36 months who attend with a caregiver. One child and one adult register together for songs, stories, rhymes, and other fun activities. This is a six-week program. Registration is required due to limited space. Details are available at the participating libraries. Call Youth Services Coordinator Angela Evans, 981-4066, for details.

TWEEN/TEEN TECH CLUB: 4 p.m. March 26, Gulf Breeze Library. For tweens and teens ages 10-17 interested in robotics, coding, Arduino, virtual reality, and all things tech-related. Fourth Tuesdays at the library. Beginners through experts.

GRAPHIC NOVEL BOOK CLUB: 5 p.m. March 26, Milton Library. Join fellow graphic novel enthusiasts meet fourth Tuesdays to discuss book of the month. Members can suggest reading ideas, interests, and discuss the world of the graphic novel. This month's selection: Estranged” by Ethan M. Aldridge. Registration is required.

READING FANATICS BOOK CLUB: 5 p.m. March 26, Navarre Library. New book club mets fourth Tuesdays. Those interested may suggest fiction and nonfiction books.

BIBLIOBABBLERS TEEN BOOK CLUB: 6 p.m. March 26, Gulf Breeze Library. Ninth through 12th graders 14-18 years old can discuss the read-of-the-month.  Bibliobabblers meets at 6 p.m. last Tuesdays of the month. This month's books: “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” and “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: The Original Screenplay,” both by J.K. Rowling.
