MILTON — Everybody is off the Westgate Mobile Home Park property, according to United Way of Santa Rosa County Major Gifts Manager Kyle Holley, referencing a project that finished two weeks ago which began with a court order to vacate due to a failed septic system.

However, this could be one of the last ventures the nonprofit takes on under the name United Way.

The following statement comes from Southerlyn Reisig, spokesperson for United Way Worldwide.

“Effective March 6, 2019, United Way of Santa Rosa County (Milton, Florida) is no longer a member of United Way Worldwide,” Reisig said in an email. “This action was taken by the United Way US Board of Trustees, based on a review by the Membership Accountability Committee. As a result, United Way of Santa Rosa County must cease use of the United Way name and logo.”

Former board member and spokesperson for United Way of Santa Rosa County Pamela Holt said the FBI conducted a forensic audit last fall and executed a search warrant Oct. 4. Holt left the organization in December.

“Accounting irregularities was the reason,” she said. “We hired an independent auditing firm to go through the finances and policy procedures.”

Oct. 26 the United Way Santa Rosa County terminated then-administrator Guy Thompson along with two unnamed employees.

Holley has been acting as administrator since then.
