JAY — The Town of Jay has issued a precautionary boil water notice to residents living in the Highway 4/89 and Commerce Street area.
Water Department employees are replacing a defective fire hydrant in that area Thursday evening, June 20.
This will require an interruption of service from 10 p.m. through approximately 2 a.m. June 21.
As a precaution, the Water Department advises that all water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth, or washing dishes be boiled. A rolling boil of one minute is sufficient.
As an alternative, bottled water may be used. This precautionary boil water notice will remain in effect until the problem has been corrected and a bacteriological survey shows that the water is safe to drink.
The Town of Jay Water department will notify residents when the precautionary boil water notice is no longer in effect.
Contact the Town of Jay, 850-675-4556 for further information.
