PENSACOLA — The Baptist Health Care Foundation received a $100,000 grant from the Cigna Foundation through its World of Difference grant program.
The funds will support BHCF’s Faith Health Network, a program that combines the many resources of the health care community with the strength of local congregations to promote the delivery of high-quality health care.
KC Gartman, chief development officer for Baptist Health Care, said, “We are grateful to the Cigna Foundation for its support in the work of Faith Health Network. This funding provides us the opportunity to hire an additional navigator to focus on serving our high utilization population of patients.”
The main objective of the program, supported in part by the grant, is to provide additional, nonclinical support to the most frequent FHN users.
Susan Stith, executive director of the Cigna Foundation, said, “We are proud to support Baptist Health Care’s long-standing commitment to improving the quality of health for individuals, their loved ones and the overall Northwest Florida community, We share their focus on caring for the whole person and applaud the Faith Health Network’s efforts to help people thrive in body, mind and spirit.”
Joy Sharp, community health program director, said she is confident of the impact that the Cigna grant will have. It will allow the FHN to reach more individuals in the community and improve their health care awareness.
“They will become more capable of chronic disease self-management and better utilize available health resources. Inpatient and outpatient encounters will be reduced, and the length between their hospital encounters will increase,” Sharp said.
