Motorcycle enthusiasts lined their prized bikes during the first ‘Two Wheel Friday’ event on Willing Street in downtown Milton. During the second Friday of each month, from the month of May through October, motorcyclists are encouraged to ride to downtown Milton and not only show off their bikes for a chance to win prizes in mystery competitions, but meet with other like-minded enthusiasts.
The event, which is sponsored by Main Street Milton, Harley-Davidson of Pensacola and Adventure Motorsports of NWF, coincided with other downtown events like Bands on the Blackwater and the Riverwalk Market.
At one point, event organizer Debbie Torgerson counted at least 100 bikes at the first time event; she said the event had exceeded her expectations.
“We want it to grow,” she said. “We want to get more sponsors and vendors.”
Harley-Davidson of Pensacola had representatives on scene, selling merchandise and giving a attendees the opportunity to experience riding a motorcycle with a test motorcycle.
Like Friday’s event, event organizers also plan to offer prizes in several mystery competitions. The first event gave out prizes for dirtiest bike, best LED lighting and most unique paint and body work on a bike.
Kim Cato-Chambers, an event volunteer, said the goal is to make the downtown area a destination for motorcycle enthusiasts to meet and enjoy the other downtown events.
“No matter what you ride, you can bring your bike down and show it off,” she said. “(They) can come and hang out with friends and make some new friends.”
