SRSO: Thief uses disguise to gain entry to victims’ homes

On Tuesday, December 9, the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office received a call in reference to a theft, reports say, in the area of Mayo Circle in Pace. The complainant stated a young Hispanic female approximately 5’5, 110 lbs with dark hair on top and grey sides wearing large sunglasses and a white Columbia jacket knocked on the victim’s door and stated she worked for the power company, reports said. The victim believes they were lured outside of the residence while an accomplice entered through a rear door according to reports. The female was also observed taking on a walkie-talkie style radio. After the victim entered the home, several items were discovered missing, reports said.

Tuesday, the same Hispanic female was reported to have knocked on a victim’s door stating she was able to help with tree cutting services. This was in the area of Orleans St in Pace. The description was identical to the suspect in the first incident, according to reports. During the second incident, nothing was taken, reports said. The female was talking on a cell phone speaking in Spanish and was also wearing a white Columbia jacket according to reports.

At this time, the SRSO is investigating both incidents as the office believes they are related. Deputies are seeking information related to the identity of the suspects. They are asking citizens to use caution when approached by suspicious individuals.
