Cartooning for a Cure

Relay for Life participants walk around the track for 24 hours to raise money for a cure for cancer. Each year the relay has a different theme and this year’s theme is Cartooning for a Cure.

The name of the event is not Relay for Cancer Research, because while the proceeds go toward research, the event is about life. This year's Relay for Life will be held April 24-25 from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. at the Pensacola State College Milton campus.

Pat Holtman, event chair for the 2015 Relay said this year’s theme is “Cartooning for a Cure.” Teams will dress and decorate their campsites in their favorite cartoon style, she said.

The entertainment schedule includes Stephanie Levins, Hickory Hammock Baptist Church, and the Santa Rosa School Board band. Judges will pick the best decorated campsite, food, and collage of the night. The McGuire’s Pipe Band will lead the first lap followed by survivors and caregivers.
