Dragonfly Art Gallery’s Artist of the Month

Harvey Davis

As a native of western Nebraska, Harvey Davis grew up on a cattle ranch, where he learned to appreciate nature and wild life. Davis said Native American culture subjects are his favorites.  However, twenty years in the Navy broadened his interests so no subject  is really off the table. Davis said he has no formal art training, but considers himself one of its students. He started in stained glass, and has worked with acrylics on canvas board, but after one trip to a large gourd show and he said he knew what his primary medium would be.

“With the gourd, and a few tools, only your imagination limits your creativity.     Wood carving has always been one of my interests. Recently I tried my hand at it and found it to be challenging but rewarding so I will definitely have more carving projects ahead,” he said.  Dragonfly Art Gallery is located at 6815 Caroline Street in downtown Milton.
