“We are just coming into the community to share the love of Jesus (Christ),” said Cathy Mitchell, one of the event’s organizers. “This is about 20 different churches that have pulled this together.”
Churches and faith based organizations in the Pace, Milton and Pensacola areas had volunteers at the event to speak with attendees, share their testimony or perform faith-based entertainment.
“We are just coming out here to share our love with the community,” she said. “I feel like we need this at this time, we have a lot of stuff going on that is not so good.”
Mitchell said this event will allow members to “hear the good news” about Christian faith.
Attendees were also able to enjoy refreshments, family-friendly activities and enter a chance to win door prizes from local businesses, which helped sponsor the event.
‘Unity’ hopes to be the first of several community events, Mitchell said.
“We do have plans to have a second event in October, we will teaming with Pursue Life Church and another church in Pensacola for an event called ‘Light up the Night’ in Pensacola on Nile Mile Road.”
