Munson homicide suspect confessed

The 40-year-old man Taylor Lynn Crongeyer has confessed to fatally shooting Friday was her stepfather, the First Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office has confirmed. Crongeyer was sharing a home on Dale Hall Road near the rural Munson community with her stepfather, Aubrey Cooley, and her mother on the day of the fatal shooting, according to Chief Assistant State Attorney Greg Marcille. The mother was not believed to have been home at the time of the incident, he said. At 18, Crongeyer had, in the last couple months, graduated from both high school and Pensacola State College, social media posts indicate. She’d then gone on to land a job at the Santa Rosa Medical Center. She had also been arrested Nov. 10 for driving under the influence, operating a vehicle underage at somewhere close to twice the legal limit. Indications from the scene of the homicide indicate Cooley was shot inside the home. His body was found outside, with his ankles tied to the trailer hitch of a pickup truck. Marcille said he was unable Tuesday to verify media reports that Cooley’s body had been dragged behind the pickup truck. Crongeyer has been charged with murder and is being held in Santa Rosa County Jail without bond.
