Blackwater Saddle Club

EAST MILTON — Come on out to the June Ates Arena on Bobbly Brown Road in East Milton today for the monthly Blackwater Saddle Club’s Play day. Registration for participants starts at 3 p.m., and events start at 5 p.m. Spectators are welcome! The Chuckwagon Concession stand will feature a Rodeo Burger and pulled pork sandwiches. And you don’t have to wait for the fair — come get a funnel cake!

Friends of the Pace Library used book sale

PACE — A used book sale continues Sept. 8, at the Pace Library during normal library hours. The Friends of the Pace Library is a volunteer group that has organized these book sales for the last 10 years. The money raised is use to enhance library programs for children and adults. Cookbooks, children books, science fiction books and new this year, Spanish language books are some of the categories available  to buy. Book prices range from 50 cents to $2. A HOPE sponsors A New Leash on Love

BAGDAD — A HOPE for Santa Rosa County is sponsoring this family and pet friendly event on Saturday, Sept. 8, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Bagdad Mill Site Park. There will be craft vendors, Dachshund races, Escambia Search and Rescue K-9 demonstrations, photo booth and great rescue animals for adoption. At 7 p.m., there will be a family movie on the green. Second Annual 2018 LEAD Academy Golf Tournament

PACE — LEAD Academy's Second Annual Golf Tournament will take place on Friday, Sept. 14, noon to 6:00 p.m., at Stonebrook Golf Club, 3200 Cobblestone Dr, Pace. Jeffery Brewton Sr. Scholarship Fundraiser

MILTON — Grown & Fit: Sweat. Savor. Support. Tenth annual scholarship fundraiser Saturday, Sept. 15, Guy Thompson Community Center 5629 Byron Street, 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Tickets are $15, all proceeds go the Jeffery Brewton Sr., Memorial Engineering Scholarship, for students enrolled in the College of Engineering at Tuskegee University. Come enjoy a full body workout, healthy snacks and health screenings. Deniece Griffin, Jeffery Brewton’s sister and certified fitness instructor in Atlanta, GA., instructs the class. National Public Lands Day

MILTON — Join the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission for National Public Lands Day! Bog Frog Habitat Restoration at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 21 at Yellow River Wildlife Management Area in the Milton/Holt area. Help biologists restore habitat for the Florida Bog Frog, a state threatened species.

Walk to fight suicide

PENSACOLA — The Pensacola Out of the Darkness Walk will take place Sept. 22 at the Gulfside Pavilion on Pensacola Beach. Register at afsp.org/Pensacola.

Radio Control Flying Park

JAY — The grand opening of the Santa Rosa County Fallen Hero Memorial Radio Control Flying Park takes place 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 22. There will be helicopters, planes, drones and cars as well as hot dogs and hamburgers and drinks with a donation suggested. There will be static displays, instructions, radio control air shows, military vehicles and hot rods. Location is at the Jay Transfer Station Road off 89 South of Jay. The Northwest Florida Modeler, Inc. is hosting this event. Contact Frank Papasavas at 899-1888 for more information.

Call for vendors

NAVARRE — Craft vendors are needed for the upcoming 2018 Navarre Car, Truck, Bike & Craft Show on Oct. 13 at Navarre High School. This one-day event brings motorized exhibits and visitors from across north Florida. Last years show had 140 exhibits.

The crafter entry form is available at www.navarrecarshow.com. The entry fee is $35 payable by check or PayPal. The craft space is 10-by-10. There is no electricity available on site.

The Pirates on the Panhandle are hosting the show to benefit Navarre High School and other Pirate charities in the community.
