Virginia resident faces DUI manslaughter charge from July traffic incident

Virginia resident Eric Angeletti is facing a charge of DUI manslaughter following a traffic incident, which occurred last summer on Interstate 10 in Santa Rosa County.

According to a media release from the Florida Highway Patrol, Angeletti had a blood alcohol content level of .096 when the  incident occurred on July 7, 2014. Angeletti’s passenger James Barrow, also a Virginia resident, died from injuries sustained in the incident.

The incident began when Angeletti was driving east on Interstate 10 near mile marker 40, the release stated. Angeletti’s vehicle then drifted onto the north shoulder when it crossed over to the eastbound lanes and into the grass median. The report said the vehicle then began “rotating” and “overturned coming to a rest on its roof.”

Both men were transported to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola. Angeletti suffered critical injuries from the incident, according to the report.

Angeletti was booked into Santa Rosa County Jail on Friday night.
