This is Robert Dubose. I was reading the headlines in your newspaper awhile back was about the courthouse. It said “15 years later no courthouse.” How about this for size? “40 years later and no road through Milton,” where it is probably the biggest bottle neck in the state. We are finally getting a new bridge, but apparently the city and the historical people were not really satisfied with it. They want to put the old rails on a brand new bridge. I guess it’s for a reminder to us that have had to use that thing for so long when it was not necessary. I don’t need a reminder of what we had to do. You see my daughter had a friend of hers died in the middle of the old bridge. We don’t need something like that to remind us of it. Thank you very much.

If am not mistaken, years ago a percolation test of the grounds in the back of the courthouse showed that it was not feasible to add buildings there because of the high water level and I have heard for years that the basement of the courthouse is flooded all of the time, so why even consider building where the flood level is already too high? The jail could not be put there because of the water level is what I understood, when they moved it to East Milton. So it is not feasible to buy all of that property and spend more money unwisely to build a courthouse on that particular site. It’s just not feasible.
