The American Poolplayers Association Santa Rosa County league held a charity tournament Saturday at Oops Alley benefitting SouthBark Animal Rescue of Pensacola. The tourney followed SouthBark’s festival featuring a chili cook-off, silent auction, raffle, and adoptable dogs. According to Matt Miley, the league’s owner, 16 teams turned out to play each paying a $20 entry fee all of which went to SouthBark.
Miley said, “Although no teams were qualifying for anything, most used this tournament as practice for an upcoming Vegas qualifier. Our Jack and Jill Vegas qualifier tournament will be held June sixth and will see one team advance to Vegas. During charity events, we sometimes allow the kids to play. This event saw two 17 year olds play, one being Dillion and the other being Gina Martin’s son, Colby Martin. Colby paired up with Anne Marie Sport and finished third.
Winners are a father and son team. Father is Chris Bentley and son, Dillion Bentley (17). Chris's other son is Preston Bentley, pictured hugging the trophy his dad gave him after winning the charity tournament. Raised just over $1500 for SouthBark.”
